PEMBINAAN TPA DAN TPS UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KESIAPAN SELEKSI MASUK PERGURUAN TINGGI

Academic preparation is important in higher education admission, particularly for institutions with characteristics and selection processes such as the Republic of Indonesia Defense University (Unhan RI). This Community Service activity aimed to support students' academic readiness through Academic Potential Test (TPA) and Scholastic Potential Test (TPS) training, emphasizing question characteristics, problem-solving strategies, and verbal, numerical, and logical reasoning skills. The activity was conducted offline at SMA Negeri 1 Cibinong, Bogor Regency, involving 100 students. The program employed academic mentoring through the delivery of materials, practice questions, guided problem-solving, strategy discussions, and feedback. The evaluation used a one-group pretest-posttest design with 25 multiple-choice questions. Each correct answer was scored 4, and each incorrect answer 0. The results showed that the participants' mean score increased from 64.92 on the pre-test to 86.76 on the post-test, representing an increase of 21.84 points or 33.64% relative to the initial mean score. A total of 83 participants obtained post-test scores of at least 76, corresponding to an 83% achievement rate. Individual comparisons showed that 94 participants improved, two obtained the same scores, and four obtained lower scores. Observations also indicated participant involvement in exercises, discussions, question reviews, and mentoring. These findings indicate improved evaluation results after the training; however, they should be interpreted cautiously because identical items were used in both tests and no comparison group was employed. The program's added value lies in integrating TPA and TPS exercises, guided problem solving, direct feedback, an introduction to Unhan RI, and the involvement of Mathematics Cadets as mentors.
