General Manuscript Requirements
  • The manuscript must be relevant to the focus and scope of Marahai.
  • The manuscript must report an implemented community-service, community-engagement, or community-empowerment activity.
  • Manuscripts should be original, have not been published previously, and should not be under consideration by another journal.
  • The manuscript should be prepared on A4 paper using Cambria font and follow the official article template.
  • Author information must be entered accurately in both the manuscript and OJS metadata.
  • Authors should avoid unnecessary identification of authors or institutions within the manuscript narrative when this may interfere with the double-blind review process.
  • The manuscript must be carefully proofread before submission.
  • All figures, tables, citations, participant numbers, and evaluation results must be accurate and consistent throughout the manuscript.
Title and Author Information
  • The article title should be concise, specific, informative, and directly reflect the community-service activity.
  • The title should contain a maximum of 12 words.
  • The title is written in Cambria, 15 pt, bold.
  • List all authors in the correct order and include their institutional affiliations.
  • Clearly identify the corresponding author and provide an active e-mail address.
Abstract and Keywords

The manuscript should contain abstracts in Bahasa Indonesia and English. Each abstract should not exceed 250 words.

The abstract should briefly include:

  • the main problem or condition of the community/partner;
  • the objective of the activity;
  • the community-service method or approach;
  • the target participants, when relevant;
  • the main measurable results; and
  • the principal conclusion or implication.

Abstracts should not contain citations, tables, figures, or uncommon abbreviations. Provide 3–6 keywords that specifically represent the topic, target group, and intervention.

Manuscript Structure
Authors should organize manuscripts using the following structure
1. Introduction

The recommended length is approximately 1.5–2 pages or about 15–20% of the manuscript. The Introduction should move logically from the general context to the specific community or partner problem, the proposed solution, and the objective of the activity.

The Introduction should address:

  • background and context of the community problem;
  • profile and initial condition of the partner or target community;
  • clear identification and prioritization of the problem;
  • urgency and consequences of the problem;
  • relevant previous research or community-service activities;
  • the solution or approach offered;
  • the added value or distinctive contribution of the activity; and
  • specific objectives of the community-service activity.
2. Method

The recommended length is approximately 1–1.5 pages and may reach approximately two pages for activities involving complex stages. The method should be sufficiently operational to explain who the community or partner was, what was done, how the activity was implemented, and how its success was evaluated.

The Method section should include:

  • location and period of implementation;
  • partner or target group and number of participants;
  • initial needs or problem identification;
  • community-service approach or intervention;
  • stages of activity implementation;
  • evaluation instruments;
  • indicators of success;
  • data-analysis techniques; and
  • ethical considerations and permissions, where relevant.

Authors are encouraged to include a flowchart or activity diagram when the community-service program contains several implementation stages.

3. Results and Discussion

This section should form the principal part of the article and is recommended to comprise approximately 3–5 pages or about 40–50% of the manuscript. The discussion should emphasize outcomes, changes, benefits, and impacts on the partner or community, rather than merely presenting a chronological report of activities.

Authors should report:

  • the main implementation activities;
  • number and characteristics of participants;
  • main results corresponding to the objectives;
  • evaluation data and indicators of success;
  • interpretation of the results;
  • comparison with relevant literature or previous activities;
  • benefits and impacts for the community;
  • program sustainability or follow-up; and
  • relevant limitations of the activity.

Statements such as “participants were enthusiastic” or “the activity was successful” should not be used as the sole evidence of success. Claims should be supported by appropriate indicators, data, products, skills, behavioral changes, or other relevant evidence.

4. Conclusion

The Conclusion is recommended to consist of 1–2 concise paragraphs. It should clearly state the achievement of the activity objectives, the main outcomes, the benefits to the community or partner, and realistic directions for follow-up where appropriate. Authors should avoid simply repeating the Results and Discussion or making long-term impact claims that are not supported by the evaluation.

Tables and Figures
  • Tables and figures should be placed near the paragraph in which they are first discussed.
  • Each table and figure must be numbered consecutively and provided with an informative title or caption.
  • Tables and figures must be referred to and discussed in the manuscript.
  • Figures should be of sufficient quality for publication.
  • Graphs should include clear axes, labels, legends, and units where applicable.
  • Decorative photographs that do not support the scientific discussion should be avoided.
  • Authors must ensure appropriate permission for photographs or other identifiable information involving community participants.
