Marahai: Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat
Focus and Scope
Marahai: Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal published by Universitas Halmahera that provides a platform for the dissemination of community service, community engagement, empowerment programs, applied innovation, and collaborative initiatives designed to address real problems faced by communities. The journal emphasizes activities that demonstrate clear community needs, appropriate intervention, active participation of target groups, measurable outcomes, practical benefits, and opportunities for program sustainability.
The primary focus of Marahai is the development and dissemination of evidence-based community service practices that contribute to community empowerment, capacity building, problem solving, social improvement, technological adoption, local economic development, and sustainable community development. The journal encourages programs that connect academic knowledge and professional expertise with the needs of communities through participatory, collaborative, context-sensitive, and applicable approaches.

Manuscripts submitted to Marahai should report an actual community service or community engagement activity. The article should clearly explain the target community, the identified problem or need, the intervention or solution implemented, the participation of community members or partners, and the results of the activity.
Preference is given to manuscripts that present measurable outcomes or other verifiable evidence of change, such as improvements in knowledge, skills, behavior, organizational capacity, technology adoption, product quality, economic capacity, environmental practices, or other relevant indicators.
Marahai welcomes interdisciplinary community-service activities that integrate expertise from multiple academic fields. Collaborative programs involving universities, schools, government institutions, community organizations, businesses, professional associations, and other stakeholders are also encouraged when the collaboration contributes directly to community empowerment and program outcomes.
Marahai accepts community-service manuscripts from Indonesia and other countries. The journal particularly encourages programs conducted in local communities, rural and coastal areas, island communities, educational institutions, community organizations, and other groups where academic knowledge and applied innovation can contribute to meaningful community development.
Manuscripts that report only conventional research without a clearly implemented community-service, community-engagement, or community-empowerment component are generally outside the scope of Marahai. Literature reviews, purely conceptual articles, laboratory studies, survey-only research, and descriptive studies without a substantive community intervention may be declined during initial editorial screening.
