Abstracting and Indexing
???? Discoverability & Indexing: Spectrum: Journal of Science Education is committed to increasing the visibility, discoverability, accessibility, and citation of published research through scholarly search engines, metadata-harvesting services, academic databases, repositories, and indexing platforms. The journal currently provides structured metadata through its publishing platform and continues to develop its national and international indexing coverage.
A. ABSTRACTING AND INDEXING STATEMENT
Spectrum: Journal of Science Education seeks to ensure that published articles can be discovered and accessed by researchers, educators, teachers, students, institutions, libraries, and the wider academic community.
To support scholarly visibility, Spectrum maintains structured article metadata, open-access publication, standardized bibliographic information, and metadata-harvesting capabilities through its Online Journal Systems (OJS) platform. The journal will progressively pursue inclusion in appropriate national and international abstracting and indexing services.
B. CURRENT DISCOVERY & CITATION SERVICES
Google Scholar
Supports scholarly discovery and citation tracking of academic publications available through the journal website.
Dimensions
Spectrum identifies Dimensions among its citation-analysis and scholarly-discovery services as part of its effort to improve research visibility.
OAI-PMH
Spectrum provides an Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH) endpoint that enables compatible academic systems and repositories to harvest journal metadata.
C. METADATA HARVESTING
OAI-PMH Support
Spectrum supports metadata interoperability through the Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH). This allows compatible repositories, library systems, academic discovery services, and metadata aggregators to harvest bibliographic information from the journal.

D. SCHOLARLY DISCOVERABILITY
Helps published research reach a wider national and international audience.
Allows researchers and educators to locate relevant Spectrum articles.
Improves opportunities for published research to be read, used, and cited.
Structured metadata facilitates integration with scholarly information systems.
E. ARTICLE METADATA
To improve discoverability and support indexing services, Spectrum maintains bibliographic metadata for published articles. Metadata may include:
- Article title;
- Author names;
- Author affiliations;
- Abstract;
- Keywords;
- Publication date;

F. DOI AND METADATA REGISTRATION
Spectrum intends to support persistent article identification and standardized metadata registration as its publishing infrastructure develops. Where Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) are formally assigned, DOI registration will support persistent linking, citation interoperability, and scholarly discovery. DOI registration services should not be interpreted as abstracting or indexing databases.
G. INDEXING DEVELOPMENT
As Spectrum develops its publication record and satisfies the eligibility requirements of individual services, the journal intends to progressively pursue broader inclusion in reputable scholarly databases, directories, and indexing platforms. Potential future targets may include:
Important: The services listed above are development targets and should not be interpreted as current indexing or accreditation unless Spectrum explicitly announces verified inclusion on its official website.
H. TRANSPARENCY OF INDEXING STATUS
Spectrum is committed to accurately representing its indexing and abstracting status. An indexing service, accreditation database, directory, or scholarly platform will be presented as an active journal index only after its inclusion has been appropriately verified. Applications, planned submissions, metadata compatibility, or technical eligibility will not be presented as confirmed indexing.
I. SUPPORTING ARTICLE DISCOVERABILITY
Authors can help improve the discoverability of their published articles by ensuring that titles, abstracts, and keywords clearly represent the subject and major concepts of their research. Authors are also encouraged to:
- Provide accurate author names and affiliations;
- Use informative and searchable article titles;
- Select specific and relevant keywords;
- Provide accurate reference information;
- Include ORCID identifiers where available;
- Share published articles responsibly through scholarly and institutional networks;
- Deposit permitted copies in institutional repositories in accordance with the journal's Copyright and License Policy.
J. OPEN ACCESS AND DISCOVERABILITY
Spectrum's Open Access Policy supports scholarly discoverability by making published articles immediately available to readers without subscription barriers. Open access, structured metadata, OAI-PMH interoperability, author self-archiving, and responsible indexing development collectively contribute to the visibility and accessibility of Spectrum publications.
