Aims & Scope

⚡ Quick Summary: JSBMM is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access forum dedicated to advancing the integration of mathematical modeling with systems-level understanding of biological phenomena across molecular biology, ecology, epidemiology, and bioinformatics.

A. ABOUT THE JOURNAL

Journal of Systems Biology and Mathematical Modeling (JSBMM) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access forum dedicated to advancing the integration of mathematical modeling with systems-level understanding of biological phenomena. We publish original research, methodological advances, comprehensive reviews, and interdisciplinary case studies that bridge theoretical frameworks with experimental and computational applications across molecular biology, ecology, epidemiology, and bioinformatics.

As a fully open-access journal under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License, all articles are freely available to readers worldwide, ensuring broad dissemination, global visibility, and maximum impact for the research we publish. Our rigorous peer-review process upholds the highest standards of academic integrity, guided by an international editorial board of distinguished scholars.

Mission: To unravel the complexity of life through the lens of mathematics and systems thinking, while decentralizing knowledge and fostering global collaboration from Eastern Indonesia.

B. JOURNAL COVERAGE AREAS

JSBMM welcomes contributions that explore, but are not limited to, the following areas:

1

Mathematical Biology and Biomedicine

Development and analysis of mathematical models (ordinary, partial, and delay differential equations; stochastic processes) for biological systems at molecular, cellular, and organismal levels, including disease dynamics, immunology, physiology, and drug development.

2

Dynamical Systems Theory and Applications

Qualitative and quantitative analysis of nonlinear dynamical systems arising in biology, including bifurcation analysis, stability theory, pattern formation, and chaos in biological contexts.

3

Ecology and Evolutionary Dynamics

Population dynamics, predator-prey interactions, competition and coexistence, spatial ecology, evolutionary game theory, and modeling of ecosystem resilience and sustainability.

4

Epidemiological Modeling

Mathematical and computational approaches to understand, predict, and control infectious disease transmission, including compartmental models, network epidemiology, spatial spread, and the impact of interventions and public health policies.

5

Bioinformatics and Computational Systems Biology

Integration of high-throughput data (genomics, proteomics, metabolomics) with mathematical modeling; network biology, pathway analysis, machine learning applications in biological systems, and development of algorithms and software tools for systems-level analysis.

6

Interdisciplinary and Translational Research

Applications of systems biology and mathematical modeling in personalized medicine, synthetic biology, biotechnology, environmental management, and One Health approaches.
