PENGEMBANGAN BAHAN AJAR BAHASA INDONESIA SD BERBASIS KEARIFAN LOKAL HALMAHERA UTARA

Abstract

Indonesian language learning in elementary schools needs to be contextualized so that students can connect language skills with their social and cultural experiences. This study aims to identify the potential of North Halmahera local wisdom as a source for developing Indonesian language teaching materials for elementary schools and to formulate the characteristics and initial structure of ethnopedagogically oriented materials. The study employed an exploratory qualitative approach focusing on document analysis and a review of cultural sources, curriculum documents, previous studies, and the characteristics of Indonesian language teaching materials. Data were analyzed through reduction, thematic categorization, mapping the relationship between local wisdom and language skills, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that folklore, Hibua Lamo, cultural expressions, communal cooperation traditions, local languages, the natural environment, and community practices have potential as sources of texts, literacy activities, and character education. These resources can be integrated into listening, speaking, reading, writing, literary appreciation, and cultural literacy activities. The initial teaching-material design should be contextual, communicative, participatory, multimodal, literacy-oriented, and provide opportunities for cultural reflection. These findings provide a basis for developing a teaching-material prototype that should subsequently undergo expert validation and practicality and effectiveness testing.
