O’dora Journal of Educational Studies (OJES) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and research integrity. This statement applies to all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, editorial board members, and the publisher.

The journal adopts ethical principles inspired by the recommendations and best practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), as well as international standards of transparency and best practice in scholarly publishing. OJES is committed to preventing publication malpractice, including plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, duplicate submission, redundant publication, inappropriate authorship, citation manipulation, peer-review manipulation, undisclosed conflicts of interest, and unethical use of artificial intelligence tools.

1. 1 Editorial Independence

   Editorial decisions are made independently based on the scholarly merit, originality, methodological quality, ethical compliance, relevance to the journal’s aims and scope, and contribution of the manuscript. The publisher, institution, sponsors, or any external party must not influence editorial decisions.

2. 2 Fair Evaluation

   Editors evaluate manuscripts without discrimination based on nationality, ethnicity, gender, religion, political belief, institutional affiliation, disability, or personal background of the authors.

3. 3 Publication Decisions

   The Editor-in-Chief or assigned editor is responsible for deciding whether a manuscript is accepted, revised, rejected, or withdrawn from the editorial process. Decisions are based on editorial screening, peer-review reports, ethical considerations, and compliance with journal policies.

4. 4 Confidentiality

   Editors, reviewers, and editorial staff must treat all submitted manuscripts as confidential documents. Information about a submitted manuscript may only be disclosed to the corresponding author, reviewers, editorial advisers, and the publisher when necessary for the editorial process.

OJES applies a peer-review process to ensure the quality, validity, originality, and scholarly contribution of published manuscripts. The journal is committed to conducting peer review fairly, objectively, confidentially, and free from conflicts of interest.

1. 1 Reviewer Selection

   Reviewers are selected based on their expertise, publication record, research experience, and relevance to the manuscript topic. Reviewers must have sufficient knowledge of the subject area and must not have conflicts of interest with the authors or the manuscript.

2. 2 Objectivity

   Reviewers must provide objective, constructive, evidence-based, and respectful comments. Personal criticism of authors is not acceptable. Reviewers should clearly explain their recommendations and support them with scholarly arguments.

3. 3 Confidentiality in Peer Review

   Reviewers must keep manuscripts and review materials confidential. Manuscripts under review must not be shared, discussed, copied, cited, or used for personal advantage before publication.

4. 4 Peer-Review Manipulation

   Any attempt to manipulate the peer-review process, including providing false reviewer identities, fabricated reviewer accounts, inappropriate reviewer suggestions, or influencing reviewers, is considered serious publication misconduct.

1. 1 Originality and Plagiarism

   Authors must ensure that their manuscripts are original and free from plagiarism. Any work, words, ideas, data, figures, or materials taken from other sources must be properly cited and acknowledged. Plagiarism, self-plagiarism, and unattributed copying are not tolerated.

2. 2 Accurate Reporting

   Authors must present research findings honestly, accurately, and transparently. Manuscripts must contain sufficient detail, appropriate references, and clear methodology to allow readers to understand, evaluate, and, where applicable, replicate the study.

3. 3 Data Integrity

   Authors must not fabricate, falsify, manipulate, omit, or misrepresent data, images, statistical results, citations, or research findings. Authors must retain research data and make them available when reasonably requested by editors, reviewers, or readers, subject to ethical, legal, and confidentiality considerations.

4. 4 Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Submission

   Authors must not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal at the same time. Authors must not publish substantially similar work in more than one publication without proper justification, transparency, and citation.

5. 5 Authorship and Contributorship

   Authorship must be limited to individuals who have made significant scholarly contributions to the conception, design, implementation, analysis, interpretation, or writing of the manuscript. All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript and agree to its submission. OJES encourages the use of the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) to describe author contributions.

6. 6 Conflict of Interest

   Authors must disclose any financial, institutional, personal, professional, academic, or intellectual conflicts of interest that may influence the research, interpretation, or publication of the manuscript. If no conflict exists, authors must state that there is no conflict of interest.

7. 7 Funding Disclosure

   Authors must disclose all sources of financial support, including grants, institutional funding, sponsorship, or publication funding. If the study received no external funding, authors must state this clearly in the manuscript.

8. 8 Errors in Published Works

   When authors discover a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, they must promptly notify the journal editor and cooperate in correcting, retracting, or clarifying the article.

Authors must ensure that research involving human participants, animals, personal data, schools, children, teachers, or educational institutions has been conducted in accordance with applicable ethical standards, institutional policies, and national regulations.

Authors must transparently disclose the use of artificial intelligence tools or AI-assisted technologies in the preparation of manuscripts. This includes tools used for text generation, translation, editing, image generation, data analysis, coding, or reference management assistance.

The AI disclosure statement should mention the name of the tool, version when available, and the specific purpose of use. Undisclosed or inappropriate use of AI tools may be considered a breach of publication ethics.

OJES does not tolerate publication malpractice. The journal may reject, withdraw, retract, correct, or issue an expression of concern for manuscripts or published articles affected by misconduct.

OJES is committed to maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record. If a published article contains significant errors, ethical concerns, or evidence of misconduct, the journal may publish a correction, retraction, or expression of concern, depending on the nature and severity of the issue.

• Correction: issued when an article contains errors that do not invalidate the main findings.
• Retraction: issued when the findings are unreliable due to misconduct, major error, plagiarism, duplicate publication, or unethical research.
• Expression of concern: issued when serious concerns exist but the investigation is incomplete or inconclusive.

All correction, retraction, and expression of concern notices will be linked to the original article and made publicly available.

Authors, reviewers, readers, or other parties may submit complaints or appeals related to editorial decisions, peer-review process, ethical concerns, corrections, or publication misconduct. Complaints and appeals must be submitted in writing with clear evidence and explanation.

The editorial team will review complaints and appeals fairly, confidentially, and objectively. When necessary, the Editor-in-Chief may consult editorial board members, reviewers, ethics advisers, or the publisher before making a final decision.

OJES is an open-access journal. All published articles are made freely available to readers to support the dissemination of knowledge and the advancement of education and humanities research.

Authors retain copyright of their published work and grant the journal the right of first publication. Any reuse of published materials must provide proper attribution to the original authors and source.

The publisher supports the editorial team in maintaining publication quality, editorial independence, transparency, accessibility, and ethical standards. The publisher must not interfere with editorial decisions and must support the journal in handling publication ethics issues, corrections, retractions, complaints, and appeals.

The publisher is responsible for ensuring that the journal website provides clear information about the journal’s aims and scope, editorial board, author guidelines, peer-review process, publication ethics, open access policy, copyright policy, licensing policy, archiving policy, and publication charges where applicable.
