Archiving Policy

Dialogue: Educational and Social Perspectives

Archiving Policy

Digital Preservation Commitment: Dialogue: Educational and Social Perspectives is committed to preserving its published scholarly content, metadata, and related digital records in order to support long-term accessibility, continuity, and integrity of the journal's scholarly record. The journal applies a combination of digital backup, metadata preservation, publisher-supported storage, platform maintenance, and author self-archiving as part of its preservation strategy.

A. PURPOSE OF ARCHIVING

The purpose of this Archiving Policy is to ensure that articles and related scholarly records published by Dialogue remain accessible over time, including in the event of technical failure, platform migration, system updates, or other changes in the journal's publishing infrastructure. Digital preservation supports the continuity, reliability, and integrity of the scholarly record.

B. MATERIALS PRESERVED

Where technically and administratively applicable, the journal seeks to preserve:

  • published article files;
  • article metadata;
  • issue and volume information;
  • abstracts and keywords;
  • author and affiliation metadata;
  • references and citation information;
  • supplementary files where applicable;
  • correction and retraction notices;
  • editorial and publication metadata;
  • website and journal configuration records where necessary;
  • other digital materials required to maintain the publication record.

C. DIGITAL BACKUP

The journal's digital content is maintained within the publishing infrastructure managed or supported by PT. Gammabeta Edu and Tech. Reasonable backup procedures are used to reduce the risk of data loss resulting from technical problems, server failure, system maintenance, or accidental deletion. Backups may include journal databases, publication files, metadata, website files, and system configurations.

D. PUBLISHER RESPONSIBILITY

PT. Gammabeta Edu and Tech, as the publisher of Dialogue: Educational and Social Perspectives, supports the technical infrastructure necessary for the operation, maintenance, backup, and continued availability of the journal's digital content. The publisher seeks to maintain reasonable procedures for system maintenance and data recovery in the event of technical disruption.

E. OJS AND METADATA PRESERVATION

Dialogue uses Open Journal Systems (OJS) as its journal publishing platform. OJS supports the management and dissemination of publication metadata and enables metadata harvesting through the Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH).

The availability of structured metadata supports discoverability, metadata harvesting, and additional preservation opportunities through compatible scholarly systems.

F. AUTHOR SELF-ARCHIVING

Authors are encouraged to contribute to the long-term availability and dissemination of their published work through responsible self-archiving. Subject to the journal's Copyright and License Policy, authors may deposit or share published articles through:

  • institutional repositories;
  • subject or disciplinary repositories;
  • personal academic websites;
  • institutional research profiles;
  • legitimate scholarly networks;
  • teaching or educational repositories.

The official citation and link to the journal publication should be included whenever possible.

G. VERSION OF RECORD

The formally published version available through the journal website is regarded as the Version of Record . Where corrections, retractions, or other formal post-publication notices are issued, the journal will seek to preserve the relationship between the original publication and the relevant notice.

H. PRESERVATION OF POST-PUBLICATION NOTICES

Corrections, retractions, expressions of concern, and other formal editorial notices form part of the scholarly record and should remain accessible together with the publication to which they relate. The journal seeks to avoid silently removing or replacing substantive publication history. This approach supports transparency and the integrity of the scholarly record.

I. PLATFORM MIGRATION

If the journal is migrated to a different publishing platform, server, domain, or technical infrastructure, reasonable efforts will be made to preserve published articles, metadata, issue records, URLs where technically possible, and other essential journal information. Migration planning should prioritize continuity of access and preservation of the publication record.

J. PERSISTENT IDENTIFIERS

Where Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) or other persistent identifiers are assigned, they may support the long-term identification and discovery of published articles. Persistent identifiers complement, but do not replace, the journal's broader digital preservation strategy.

K. EXTERNAL DIGITAL PRESERVATION SERVICES

The journal may participate in or integrate with external digital preservation services such as preservation networks, repository systems, or other long-term archiving infrastructure when such arrangements are available and formally implemented. Possible services may include systems such as PKP Preservation Network, LOCKSS, CLOCKSS, or comparable digital preservation programs. Reference to these services in this policy does not indicate that Dialogue is currently an active participant unless such participation is separately confirmed by the journal.

L. JOURNAL DISCONTINUATION

If Dialogue ceases active publication, the journal and publisher will make reasonable efforts to preserve previously published content and maintain access to the scholarly record for as long as technically and administratively feasible. Where necessary, published content may be transferred to an appropriate repository, archiving service, or successor publishing platform.

M. DISASTER RECOVERY

In the event of technical failure, data corruption, server disruption, or other serious infrastructure problems, available backups and preserved records may be used to restore the journal's digital content. Recovery priorities include published articles, issue information, metadata, and essential journal records.
