Abstract

This study aims to analyze the comparison of plant species found in deep peatlands and shallow peatlands based on literature studies from various scientific researches. The method used in this research is a library research approach by analyzing 10 scientific articles published between 2016–2026 obtained from national and international journals. The data were analyzed descriptively and qualitatively through classification, comparison, and synthesis of previous research findings. The results showed that shallow peatlands have higher vegetation diversity compared to deep peatlands due to better soil fertility, aeration, and nutrient availability that support plant growth. In contrast, deep peatlands are dominated by specific plant species that are able to adapt to acidic soil conditions, high water content, and low oxygen levels. Peat depth significantly affects vegetation composition, plant distribution, and ecosystem regeneration capacity. This study is expected to provide scientific information that can support sustainable peatland management and conservation efforts.
